Working for a temp agency doesn't cost anything
One of those false stories is that it costs money to work for a temp agency. That is, of course, not true.
But what is the actual situation? The employment agency charges your employer a fee. So your salary is certainly not lower because you work through an employment agency!
You also work under the same collective labor agreement as all other employees of the company where you work, but you may also work under the temporary worker collective labor agreement. As a temporary worker, you are treated the same as any permanent employee, which is a comforting thought.
Whether you choose irregular work or a permanent position, it is flexible work. This is useful for temporary periods, for example if you plan to travel and still need about two months' worth of savings. It is also useful if you want to earn extra money part-time while you are continuing your education. But it is also perfect for figuring out what you really want to do, as you can work as a temporary employee to see what you really enjoy. If you would like a permanent job and the employer offers you the opportunity to become a permanent employee, you have the added advantage of not having to decide after just one month whether to stay for a longer period. This is because you do not have to sign a six-month or one-year contract.

You're not the only one!
You may think that few people work through a temp agency or that everyone has a permanent job. If so, you are mistaken. Here are some figures about working through a temp agency.
- On average, more than 1 in 3 people looking for work find a job through a temporary employment agency.
- More than 1 in 3 people who work as temporary workers move on to a temporary contract.
- More than 12% of all temporary workers move on to permanent employment.
- And do you really want to remain flexible? 14% of all temporary workers move on to their next temporary job.
In short, working through a temp agency is often the start of something wonderful!
