Working for a temporary employment agency does not cost money
One of those false stories is that it would cost money to work for a temp agency. That is of course not true.
But how does it work? The employment agency charges a fee to your employer. Your salary is therefore certainly not lower because you work through an employment agency!
You also work according to the same collective labor agreement as all other employees of the company where you work, but it is also possible that you work according to the temporary worker collective labor agreement. As a temporary worker you are treated the same as any permanent employee, so that is a nice thought.
Whether you choose irregular work or a permanent position, it is flexible work. This is useful for temporary periods, for example if you are planning to travel and still need about two months of savings. It is also useful if you want to earn extra money part-time while you are doing further training. But it is also perfect to see what exactly you want and start working as a temporary worker to see what you really like. If you would like a permanent job and the employer offers you the opportunity to become a permanent employee, then you have the additional advantage that you do not have to decide for a longer period after a month. This is because you do not have to sign a (half) year contract.

You're not alone!
You may think that only a few people work through an employment agency or that everyone has a permanent job. You are wrong. Here are some figures about working through an employment agency.
- On average, more than 1 in 3 people looking for work find a job through an employment agency
- More than 1 in 3 people who work as a temporary worker move on to a temporary contract
- More than 12% of all temporary workers move on to a permanent job
- And do you really want to remain flexible? 14% of all temporary workers move on to the next temporary job
In short, working through an employment agency is often the start of something beautiful!
