The difference between a forklift truck and a reach truck

• Forklifts lift up to 4.5 meters, while reach trucks reach up to 12 meters in height.
• A reach truck has a single rear wheel in the center, which ensures a small turning circle and more efficient maneuvering in narrow aisles.
• On a forklift truck, you sit facing straight ahead, whereas on a reach truck, you sit turned at a right angle, which gives you a different field of vision.
• A reach truck may only be driven indoors, while forklift trucks may also be used outdoors and on public roads thanks to their pneumatic tires.

Take a reach truck training course

As with forklift truck operation, it is Function that you take a reach truck training course before Function a reach Function . This will help you prevent accidents, learn about the hazards, and understand how to work safely.

If you have successfully completed the training, you will receive an officially recognized certificate that you must carry with you at work. Your reach truck certificate is similar to a driver's license for a car, but it proves that you are authorized to drive a reach truck.

UBN works together with a specialized training institute where you can take reach truck lessons or refresher courses. Important to know:

• The duration of the training depends on your knowledge of driving a reach truck. The maximum duration is 2 days.
• The reach truck training course consists of a theoretical and a practical part.
• The reach truck certificate is valid for 5 years.
• You may operate a reach truck from the age of 16 with a reach truck certificate and always under supervision. From the age of 18, you may operate a reach truck independently with a reach truck certificate.

If you sign up for a training course or program to obtain a diploma or certificate, there are a number of conditions attached:

• In exchange for free training, you must continue to work for UBN for a minimum period of time. Otherwise, you will have to pay back part of the costs. This depends on how much you have worked since completing the training.
• If you fail the test or are absent from the training course, you must repay the costs of the training course to UBN employment agency within two months.
