UBN supports Hartekind Foundation

UBN Uitzendbureau not only offers people opportunities in the labor market, but is also very involved socially.

This commitment is reflected, among other things, in our support of charities. In recent years, UBN has supported organizations such as Foundation for the Child, Heartbeat Foundation, Spinning for Life and the Food Bank Gala.

In 2024, we chose to support the Hartekind Foundation!

Hartekind

Hartekind Foundation

Every year, 1,500 brand-new parents hear that their child's heart is not completely healthy. Their child is one of more than 25,000 heart children in the Netherlands; children with a heart defect. About two-thirds of these heart children have to undergo life-saving surgery shortly after birth. In addition, heart children often have a shorter life expectancy and limitations due to heart failure, arrhythmias and/or acquired brain damage. And still 150 heart children also die annually, making a heart defect the No. 1 cause of death among children up to age 15.

Therefore, Hartekind Foundation is committed with heart and soul to increasing the chances of survival of heart children and improving quality of life. Stichting Hartekind funds vital research, organizes/supports events and initiatives for this purpose and provides information to parents. In this way we work together with you towards a world in which heart children can be carefree children!

A charity with a personal edge

Our colleague Amber Fruneaux likes to tell her story herself:

Today I would like to share with you my story of why I lovingly support Hartekind Foundation.

In October 2020, we were faced with the harsh reality that our little girl has a heart defect, and that's where Hartekind Foundation comes in. This foundation, which is dedicated to researching congenital heart defects in children, has a special place in my heart. Pulmonary valve stenosis, this means the heart valve between her right ventricle and pulmonary artery was narrowed, requiring immediate treatment. At only three months old, Lennon underwent cardiac catheterization at LUMC, a profound experience for us but also for Lennon.

Today she is doing great and may even stay away from her cardiologist for two years. But our journey does not end here. Lennon will remain under the control of the UMC with her cardiologist throughout her life. Thanks to organizations like the Hartekind Foundation, there are ongoing studies that can improve the lives not only of my daughter, but of all children with congenital heart defects. They strive to make these conditions no longer the number one cause of death among children.

As a parent, I am incredibly grateful for the work of the Hartekind Foundation. That is why I am also mega happy that UBN will be working to support this charity this year. Together we can make a difference, together we can offer hope to children and families dealing with heart defects.

Thank you for your support of this important charity!

After Amber's inspiring story above, we feel even more motivated to get involved with this wonderful foundation. We hope this will allow us to help even more children. 🧡

Financial support

All the activities UBN is doing this year, we are also using them to raise money for charity. With the money we raise this year, we support scientific research by Stichting Hartekind. This is important because it improves the survival chances of heart children.

Hands off

It's not just about giving money: we're also really involved. This year a group of colleagues is helping with the National Hartekind Day. On Saturday, June 15, the second national Hartekind Day will take place at Castle Groeneveld in Baarn! A day for all heart children (both child and adult) and their environment, open to everyone.
