Order picker

In the role of Order Picker, you will be working with steel at our client.
Large beams, round tubes, bar steel and sheet steel are among the products you will be picking.
It is "Tough, robust and physical work".

What to expect.

• A permanent 40-hour work week with the prospect of a contract
• Hourly wage starting at 14.74 gross/hour (based on your experience)
• 2-shift operation (07:00 - 16:00 and 16:00 - 01:00)
• Shift rate of 12.5% over each shift
• Travel allowance from 10 km.

The Order Picker position is a very independent job. So if you like working independently, without a boss constantly looking over your shoulder, then this job is for you.

Orderpicking steel, how does it work?
Just like in a normal warehouse, products are stored in different locations. These locations all have a unique code that shows the material and location.
As an Order Picker, you print out a work order on the computer, showing exactly what you need to pick and where it is located. You walk to this location and use the hand scanner to pick the product and then you have to move it to a place where it can be loaded into the truck by the loading crew.

Moving the steel is obviously too heavy to do it by hand, which is why you use different types of overhead cranes. With these, you can secure the products and lift and move them. You do this remotely with a remote control. You then guide the steel to the right place where you scan again to complete your order.

No experience with scanning or overhead cranes?
This is no problem.
When you start you will work the first 2-4 weeks in day shifts and you will be fully trained in your duties. You will learn all about working safely, the different products, how the scanner works and how to safely operate the different overhead cranes.
If you can do this independently then you will be allowed to do it yourself and join the 2-shift team.

• A good command of the Dutch and/or English language
• Full-time availability in 2 shifts
• Willing to be employed by the client
• Able to get to work independently (public transportation is not feasible)
• Motivated and eager to learn
• Working experience with overhead crane, scanning and order picking is a plus.
