You’ll be working as a welder in a workshop with about eight colleagues. There, you’ll learn a variety of tasks and be trained to become a true all-rounder.
You start by drilling holes in the rails. These holes are needed to connect the rails to other rails. This is done using a machine that secures the rails with large bolts. This is how they build miles of track.
In the workshop, you’ll focus primarily on making turnouts and curves. You’ll work with various components to ensure that trains stay on the correct track. You’ll also make points that guide the trains to the correct track. To do this, you’ll use metal and special heating techniques.
